The lake effect is back.

Environment Canada issued its second snow squall watch of the season for London area on Tuesday, warning of developing squalls in London, as well as nearby Parkhill and eastern Middlesex County.

“Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate,” said the alert, released Tuesday afternoon.

The 980 CFPL Gateway Casinos London Storm Centre is monitoring the system which could bring 10 to 15 cm of snow to some parts of the region by Wednesday afternoon with winds as fast as 60 km/h, meaning blowing snow will likely be a concern.

“Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common,” a statement from the agency said. “Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”
