In their first-ever meeting, the Edmonton Oilers mopped the floor with the Vegas Golden Knights, but the losing team won a lot of fans on Twitter.

Edmonton hit the jackpot against Vegas Tuesday night as the home team won 8-2 at Rogers Place.

During and after the game, the Vegas Golden Knights’ official Twitter account shared hilarious and self-deprecating messages.

The team’s Twitter account also focused in on the Oilers’ phenom Connor McDavid.

McDavid finished with two goals and an assist. Edmonton was 3 for 3 on the power play and 4 for 4 on the penalty kill.

While a lot of the jokes poked fun at the team’s own performance on the ice, they also took aim at the frigid temperatures north of the border.

The inaugural match saw 13 of the Oilers’ 18 skaters record at least one point.

The Oilers improve to 7-9-2 on the season. They’ll host St. Louis on Thursday.
