Edmonton police said they were called to a duplex at 5824 1a Ave. SW, at around 9:21 p.m. on Friday.

A witness told them she heard a gunshot, and found a bullet hole inside her home. She was not hurt.

When police responded, a man came out of the duplex next door with a gunshot injury to his hand.

Emergency Medical Services were called in, and the man was taken into custody.

Police spokesperson Dana Donald said the man is in hospital, and is scheduled to go into surgery, but is not cooperating with police.

There is no word on the extent of the injury.

Donald also said they are still looking into a cause for the shooting, adding they are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
