Woman, 31, stabbed in downtown Montreal

A 31-year-old woman was stabbed in Ville-Marie early Thursday morning.

Montreal police responded to the call on the corner of de Maisonneuve and Berri Street around 1:15 a.m where they found the woman.

The victim was transported to hospital with a stab wound to her upper body and was in stable condition.

Police were searching for a suspect, a man in his 40s.

“The two individuals in the altercation know each other,” said Montreal spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

“According to witnesses, this was over an argument that had escalated between the two of them.”

No arrests were made and police set up a perimeter in the area during the investigation.
