A gun that is synonymous with the gangsters of the 1920s and ’30s was stolen from a Legion hall in Dartmouth last week.
Don’t worry — according to Halifax Regional Police, the Thompson ‘Tommy-gun’ sub-machine gun has been rendered inoperable and was for display purposes only.

Police say the gun, as well as a magazine, were stolen from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 31 at 54 King St. sometime between Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., and October 21 at 7 p.m.
The gun was reportedly displayed in a glass case and was screwed to a brick wall in the front lobby of the Legion.

The police are now asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information about the stolen weapon is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016.
