TransLink is set to see its ridership surpass 400 million people by the end of the year after a record-breaking September that was second only to February 2010, when the Olympics were happening.
The transit authority saw 36 million boardings, up from 34 million in September the year before.
But not all numbers are up; CEO Kevin Desmond said the West Coast Express saw ridership go down by about 10.5 per cent.

There have been 306 million boardings across Metro Vancouver so far this year.
A business Compass card?
Desmond said TransLink is also working toward a plan for businesses that would allow companies to subsidize their employees’ transit fees.
“It becomes sort of a really nice employee benefit piece that more and more can encourage people to try transit and then use transit,” Desmond said.
He said that would help grow TransLink’s market, which would, in turn, mean growth in capacity for some areas.
“Just means we have to grow the system faster,” Desmond added.
He said TransLink is also working on a project with Modo, where employees from the same business could carpool.
