People living in southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, are being urged to secure loose items ahead of a powerful storm system.
A low pressure system is expected to bring wind gusts of up to 90 km/h or higher Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. According to Environment Canada, the strongest winds will likely be around the Manitoba escarpment where 110 km/h wind gusts are possible.
Environment Canada issued wind warnings early Tuesday morning as wind gusts of 90 km/h or greater can cause damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows. The high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Strong winds will affect parts of Saskatchewan Tuesday evening as a cold front moves across that region. The front will arrive in western Manitoba late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning and continue to move east through the day.
The strongest winds in Winnipeg will likely be during the Wednesday morning hours.
The wind warnings are through most of southern Manitoba, stretching as far north as The Pas to the west just past Winnipeg.
Winds are expected to calm down late Wednesday.
