Province making headway at reducing surgical wait times

SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan government says it’s making progress on goals to lower wait times.

In 2010, the province launched an initiative to have all wait times down to six months or less by April of this year.

According to the provincial government, in November 300 people were waiting more than six months for surgery.

The stats also say November is the second month in a row where gains have been made.

The province attributes the gains to several factors, including a surgical safety checklist and another surgical ward added to a Saskatoon hospital.
