Surrey RCMP investigating after 11-year-old girl allegedly groped in Cloverdale

RCMP are investigating an alleged sexual assault in Surrey. File

A warning to Surrey residents, after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Cloverdale area on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. near 188th Street and 65th Avenue, according to Surrey RCMP.

Mounties said the girl was walking along the street when an unknown man grabbed her buttocks.

When she reacted, the man apologized and fled the area on foot, police said.

The girl returned home and reported the incident to the police, who combed the neighbourhood but were unable to locate the suspect.

Investigators said the girl was physically unharmed, but was left shaken by the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian male in his 30’s, approximately six feet tall and wearing blue jeans, a light coloured shirt and a light coloured hat.

He may also have stubble on his face, police said.
