Mohawk College is celebrating the official opening of the Institute for Applied Health Sciences, located at McMaster University in Hamilton’s west end.

The $3.5-million facility includes a state-of-the-art training centre that allows students real-world experiences, where students can learn from their mistakes without impacting patient care.

Mohawk College’s dean of health sciences Lori Koziol says, “It also brings together college and university students so they can learn from each other.”

Koziol adds, “McMaster and Mohawk had been looking for a way to work together and this institute brings health-care students together on one campus, sharing resources while eliminating duplication.”

The institute includes college students who will move on to university, and university students looking for the hands-on training that comes from a college education.
