The heavy concrete barriers, weighing 1200 pounds each, are a new addition to keep fans attending Winnipeg Blue Bomber games and large events at IGF feeling safe.
All entrances as well as the sidewalk area around the fan zone have had barricades added this week.
Further changes could be coming to other sites or events in the city.
On Monday, Winnipeg Police Deputy Chief, Gord Perrier, said the service would soon be getting mobile barriers to be used at larger scale events.
“There will be mobile barricades to assist police in blocking areas that there is no vehicle access or we don’t want vehicle access,” Perrier said.
At Bell MTS Place, True North staff said security plans are constantly being reviewed and updated for Jets games, concerts, and other large events.
Global News was told by staff that concert promoters have been asking for increased security measures at Bell MTS place as well.
