Fall returns in full force, but big changes move in for Thanksgiving long weekend!
September 2017 Stats
September 2017 was way warmer and slightly drier than normal in Saskatoon.
Daytime highs really took the cake with an average high during the month of an unprecedented 20.4 degrees, which was over 2 degrees warmer than the normal high of 18.3 degrees.
Overnight lows were 0.6 degrees above normal, putting the month an average of 1.4 degrees warmer than normal.
Saskatoon saw 16 days above 30 degrees in 2017, when normally we only see 13 in a year.
Precipitation-wise, 29.1 millimetres was reported at the airport in September, which was 82 per cent of our normal of 35.4 millimetres.
Most of that fell in a heavy rainfall on Sept. 19 when 19.4 millimetres fell on the city – the most rain reported at the airport in a single day in over a year!
Saskatoon Forecast
Thursday
-7 is what it felt like with wind chill to start the day in Saskatoon as temperatures fell back to -4 overnight.
Mostly sunny skies kicked off the morning, but some high clouds filtered in for the middle of the day as we rose up into double digits by noon.
Those clouds stuck around into the afternoon before clearing out later on as we hit a high in the mid teens.
Friday
-5 is what it’ll feel like with wind chill as you head out Thursday morning with lots of sunshine to start the day before clouds roll back in later in the afternoon.
A breezy southwesterly wind and a bit of upper ridging will help boost temperatures up a bit further during day with a high pushing into the upper teens expected.
Thanksgiving Long Weekend
A cold front will slide through on Saturday, bringing with it a chance of showers early in the morning and some clouds to start the day with west-northwesterly winds of 40 km/h with gusts upwards of 60 km/h.
Daytime highs will slide back from low double digits on Saturday into high single digits Sunday under mostly cloudy skies with a chance of showers or flurries as strong winds continue.
Thanksgiving Day on Monday will be sunnier and less windy, but it will also be cooler, with an afternoon high struggling to get out of mid single digits.
Work Week Outlook
Slightly warmer air will push in to start the work week with daytime highs expected to return into the teens with some more sunshine on Tuesday before clouds return along with a system mid-week.
