Police in Ottawa are searching for two adults they say have defrauded 20 different hotels and bed and breakfasts in the capital region in just two months.

The pair, identified as Teresa and John Moorehouse, both speak with Irish accents and are travelling on British and Irish passports with their two teenage sons — who are also allegedly in on the schemes.

The family “either make false complaints about their room in an attempt to avoid payment or leave without making final payments,” according to a release sent out Tuesday afternoon by Ottawa police.

The family’s crime spree started in early August, the release noted.

Teresa Moorehouse is described as a 42-year-old female, 5-foot-7, medium build, with blonde hair. John Moorehouse is described as a 44-year-old male, 6-foot-2, large build, with light brown hair.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the family is asked to call Detective Shaun Wahbeh of the Ottawa Police Fraud Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5492. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
