The man who was shot in the shoulder by Saskatoon police officers after allegedly firing on them first has been charged with attempted murder.
Michael Andrew Arcand, 34, was shot in downtown Saskatoon on the afternoon of Sept. 27 after officers responded to a call of a man breaking a vehicle window.

Police used Tasers and bean bag rounds in an effort to subdue Arcand before using lethal force after he allegedly fired on officers.
He remains in hospital recovering from his wound.
Arcand is also charged with use of a firearm while committing an indictable offence, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, carrying a homemade shotgun without reasonable precaution for the safety of other persons, possession of a homemade shotgun, possession of a firearm without a license, and manufacturing a firearm.

He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on the morning of Oct. 11.
