If you’re using Broadway to commute through Vancouver this weekend you may want to find an alternate route.
Broadway will be closed between Commercial and Victoria drives until midnight Sunday as crews work on upgrades to the Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain station.
Crews spent much of Friday night transporting a massive piece of steel — measuring 50 metres long and six metres wide — to support a new pedestrian walkway at the station.
The closure comes after a busy night for TransLink as multiple major events drew huge crowds to Vancouver’s downtown core.
The city hosted two big-ticket concerts Friday: Coldplay performed at B.C. Place while Miranda Lambert took the stage at Rogers Arena.
Next door, the city’s newest casino — called Parq — also held its grand opening.
