“It’s pretty tight in the housing development,” said Captain Darren Stolk, Edmonton Fire Rescue Station 24. “It was a concern right off the bat for other houses, so we had crews assigned to exposures on either side as well.”

Crews managed to keep the flames from spreading to other homes. Firefighters got the flames under control in about 15 minutes, but the fire left a significant amount of damage to the outside of the house.

“It’s looking like it’s all exterior and then into the attic — the interior looks clear and fine,” Stolk said. “But the roof seems to have burnt off, so it crawled up the outside, it seems, and got into the attic.”

Four people live in the house, and got out safely.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
