RCMP are looking for witnesses to a possible hit-and-run in South Surrey that claimed the life of a pedestrian.
Mounties were called to the 14300-block of 92 Avenue Tuesday morning and found a man suffering from serious injuries.
Paramedics and fire crews administered CPR on the victim, who was later transported to hospital.
Families members have identified the victim as 27-year-old Avtar Bal. He had only been in Canada for a month, arriving from India on a work visa in the hopes of starting a new life.

Bal was on his way to take a driver’s test. He was planning to be a commercial truck driver.
Neighbour Mandeep Mundi said her husband was the first to find him on the ground bleeding.
“My husband is like, ‘I know this guy,'” she said. “He saw the bleeding was coming from his ears and from the mouth. So he tried to give CPR by the time ambulance came.”
The incident took place in a dead-end street in a residential neighbourhood. Surrey RCMP say they are canvassing the area and looking for surveillance video.
“There wasn’t much of a scene to indicate exactly what had happened,” RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said. “Because there are no witnesses and no independent video surveillance, it’s difficult to tell what happened prior to the incident.”
