Heavy rain with thunderstorms moving into Manitoba Tuesday night

Severe thunderstorm activity is possible Tuesday night in parts of Manitoba. Karen Beekman- Lockport

A low pressure system from Montana will be moving into southern Manitoba Tuesday bringing with it rain and the risk of some severe thunderstorm activity.

Severe thunderstorm watches were issued Tuesday morning for parts of southern Manitoba and through the Interlake. Thunderstorm activity could start up late in the afternoon in Westman and move towards the Red River Valley and the Interlake in the evening hours. As this happens, there is the risk of damaging winds and heavy downpours.

Heavy rain is very likely with this system. According to Environment Canada, it is likely areas around the Red River Valley to The Pas will see amounts between 25 to 45 millimeters. Local amounts of could be higher with around 60 to 70 mm.
