Quebec’s anti-corruption squad (UPAC) has arrested former Montreal city councillor Frank Zampino, along with six other individuals Tuesday.
They are facing charges of fraud, conspiracy, abuse of confidence and corruption in municipal affairs.
Those accused are Zampino, Bernard Trépanier, Robert Marcil, Kazimierz Olechnowicz, Yves Théberge, Dany Moreau and Normand Brousseau.

UPAC said an arrest warrant has also been issued for Bernard Poulin.
In a statement, UPAC said the charges are in connection with public contracts awarded by the City of Montreal between 2001 and 2009.

UPAC explained its investigation began in 2014 and involves approximately 30 contracts.
Zampino is also involved in the alleged fraud trial involving the Faubourg Contrecoeur housing development project.
