The body of a missing hiker has been found near Whistler but weather conditions are making the recovery operation difficult.
The search for the hiker lasted through the weekend after his disappearance was reported to police on Sept. 16 around 7 p.m.
The 27-year-old man from Kazakhstan went hiking on a trail near Iceberg Lake on Rainbow Mountain but got separated from his companion and never returned.
On Sept. 17, the search resumed at first light and at approximately 12:15 p.m., Whistler Search and Rescue found him in a crevasse.
Heavy fog and a chance of snow is making helicopter retrieval impossible.
Crews are hoping for a break in the weather so they can retrieve his body.
His cause of death has not been confirmed, however, it does not appear suspicious. Officers are working with the BC Coroner Service to identify the victim.
