Motorcyclist killed in collision on Highway 17 in Delta

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a five-ton truck on Highway 17 in Delta this morning.

Delta police were called at 6:20 a.m. to the 3100-block of the highway. They believe the motorcycle was travelling westbound and was in the process of changing lanes when he lost control.

Police say he was ejected off his bike and struck by the passing truck.

He died at the scene.

Police will remain on scene for a few more hours and are currently in the process of notifying next of kin.

Traffic will continue to be diverted from Highway 17 westbound onto Highway 99 northbound. Additionally, there is no access to Highway 17 westbound from southbound Highway 99. This area will be affected for the next several hours.
