Tom Jones forced to postpone U.S. tour due to ‘medical advice’

It’s Not Unusual for Tom Jones to hit the road to perform, but what is unusual is for the 77-year-old singer to cancel a tour days before it was set to begin.

Yet that’s what’s happening with the What’s New, Pussycat? singer’s upcoming U.S. tour, which was set to kick off in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 6 but is now being pushed back until next year.

In a tweet, Jones issued a statement in which he apologized to fans and explained that he was forced to postpone due to “medical advice” concerning an unspecified ailment.

The tour dates are being rescheduled for May and June of 2018, with details to be announced as soon as they are finalized.

“Tom sends his sincere apologies to his fans and looks forward to seeing them all again in 2018,” notes the statement, which can be read in its entirety below:

The postponement clearly comes as a surprise, as just a few days ago Jones tweeted out his tour itinerary and announced that Into the Ark (the vocal duo he coached while appearing on the U.K. edition of The Voice) would be opening for him on his U.S. tour dates.
