Collision on Perimeter sends two women to hospital

Two women were taken to hospital and one is facing impaired driving charges after a dangerous collision on the Perimeter, Saturday night.

Headingley RCMP said a 26-year-old from Steinbach was reported to be driving erratically just after 4 p.m. Saturday, near Wenzel Street.

Just as RCMP were responding to the call, the woman ran a red light after making her way onto the Perimeter. She collided with a car driven by a 44-year-old female from Beausejour.

The collision happened at the intersection of the Perimeter and Dugald Road.

Both women were transported to hospital: the 44-year-old in critical condition and the 26-year-old suffering serious injuries.

STARS Air Ambulance was called to the scene and the road was closed eastbound for a short time.

Impaired driving charges are pending against the Steinbach woman. RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
