Saskatoon police catch 2 men fleeing from stolen vehicle

Saskatoon police have two men in custody after they tried to elude officers early Friday morning in a stolen vehicle.

A patrol unit first spotted the vehicle, which was reported stolen from outside the city, just before 1 a.m. CT in the 2300-block of St. George Avenue.

The driver took off when police tried to pull over the vehicle.

The air support unit took over, following the vehicle to Circle Drive and 33rd Street West, where officers set up tire deflation devices.

The stolen vehicle eventually came to a stop near Avenue W and 29th Street West and two men fled on foot.

Police dog Orion tracked the two men to a nearby yard and they were taken into custody. One man suffered dog bites during the arrest.

The two men, 19 and 20, are scheduled to appear Friday morning in Saskatoon provincial court.
