A Japanese beauty product sold in Metro Vancouver is sparking a warning from Health Canada.

Kobayashi Eyebon Eyewash is marketed to contact lens users for the prevention of eye disease, but it contains the prescription drug, aminocaproic acid.

The acid is used to decrease bleeding but has some serious side effects, like vision changes, headache, dizziness, nausea and muscle weakness.

The product —  sold in three different formats — is labelled mostly in Japanese, which means users may not know the proper usage, dosage and side effect information.

Health Canada says it has seized the product from two Catwalk Boutique locations in Burnaby and Richmond.
