As a family of five received a sneak peek of their new pre-fabricated home on Thursday, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity in the Saint John region said he wants to provide more families with the opportunity to comfortably afford a place to live.
Kevin Perry’s comments come at the unveiling of the new home in St. George.

The pre-fabricated structure was built by the students and faculty of the New Brunswick Community College’s St. Andrews campus.
“It’s been so long that we’ve been kind of waiting, hearing about it and I can’t believe the day is finally here where it’s actually getting moved and put on the basement,” said Kaiti Stanton who will be living in the home along with her partner Jordan Leavitt and their three children.
The significance of helping a family have a new home is special not just to the family, but to all involved in the process.
“There’s nothing more special than seeing the look on the family’s face as they look at this home which is going to be their home, their sanctuary,” said Perry.

Habitat for Humanity families have to contribute to the process by donating five hundred hours of so-called ‘sweat equity.’
“They’ll work on the landscaping here, they’ll work on building the decks,” Perry said. “They can help us at our ReStore in Saint John. “There are many ways for them to get involved. They’ll also do some community involvement as well.”
There will be a formal event in the coming weeks where the keys will be officially turned over to Stanton’s family.
