Boulder City Fire Chief Kevin Nicholson who was present at the meeting jumped into action to assist the woman according to the city’s Facebook page.
“I believe it was a battery malfunction that ignited the contents of her purse,” Boulder City Fire Chief Kevin Nicholson told KSNV.
Although it is not clear which battery caused the flames, Nicholson said it wasn’t from her cellphone.
When paramedics arrived, the woman was treated for minor burns and was released.
Nicholson advises everyone to carefully read device manuals and take note of its care and maintenance.
