OPP in West Elgin have charged one man, who is said to have been found wearing only his underpants.
Around 7:20 a.m. Thursday, OPP responded to a call of a break-and-enter at a business on Currie Street, north of Annabella Street, in Dutton, Ont.
A resident of Dutton later said a suspicious male was running through their backyard. The OPP’s Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team members attended the scene.
The suspect tried to evade police by entering into a nearby field, but was tracked down and located underneath a structure wearing only his underpants.
The suspect is said to have refused to come out from under the structure, but officers were able to remove him and place him under arrest without incident, according to the media release.
Police say that his clothes were located nearby.
A 33-year-old male from West Elgin is charged with break-and-enter to commit an indictable offence, resisting arrest, possession of break-in instruments, and mischief under $5,000.
The suspect was released with a court date on August 29, 2017, in St. Thomas Criminal Court.
