Global Angel Charitable Organization has teamed up with Nurse Scrap Metal scrapyard for “Crushing for a Cause.” The scrapyard will accept donations of metal and in return, turn over cash to Global Angel, a not-for-profit organization.

The discarded ambulance was donated by Angels of Flight, a charity which helps arrange transportation for Global Angel.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

“We help with medical assisted transportation — air ambulance, commercial flights and ground,” Global Angel volunteer Nicole White said.

“It’s for anybody who has been travelling and they get injured by an accident and needs to come home, or in palliative [care] and needs to get home to say good bye before they pass away.”

A typical air ambulance flight could range from $25,000 to $75,000, White added.

“We’re just trying to raise money because we don’t get any government funding,” White said.
