Nominees announced for 2017 CCMA Awards

WATCH ABOVE: Nominees are announced in several categories for this year's CCMA Awards.

Country favourite Dean Brody and newcomer Meghan Patrick are among the best album nominees for this year’s Canadian Country Music Association Awards.

British Columbia’s Brody, who has won 13 CCMA Awards over his career, is vying for the prize with his sixth album Beautiful Freakshow alongside Grace & Grit, the rollicking debut from Patrick, a native of Belleville, Ont.

Other nominees in the album of the year category are High Valley, James Barker Band and Dallas Smith.

Single of the year nominees are Smith’s Autograph, Brett Kissel’s Cool With That, James Barker Band’s Lawn Chair Lazy, Jess Moskaluke’s Take Me Home and Brody for Time.

Best male artist nominees are Gord Bamford, Chad Brownlee, Tim Hicks, Kissel, Aaron Pritchett and Smith.

In the best female artist category are singer Alee, Lindsay Ell, Madeline Merlo, Moskaluke and Patrick.

The CCMA Awards will take place in Saskatoon on Sept. 10.
