Ariana Grande Costa Rica concert: Man arrested after making threats on social media

A man has been arrested in Costa Rica after someone made threats regarding Ariana Grande’s concert in Alajuela, Costa Rica on the weekend.

Grande performed at Parque Viva in Costa Rica on Sunday as part of her Dangerous Woman Tour.

Authorities in Costa Rica say they have arrested a 22-year-old Colombian man on suspicion of threatening to stage an attack at a concert by the pop singer.

Costa Rican prosecutors said in a statement a suspect was arrested in connection with threats that were made online, the Associated Press reports.

Head investigator Walter Espinoza told local media the threats were written in Arabic. He identified the suspect only by the last names Caicedo Lopez.

The Costa Rica concert went ahead as scheduled Sunday in the city of Alajuela. Grande has not commented on the arrest, but she did post about performing in the country.

“I love you, Costa Rica,” Grande captioned an image from her show in an Instagram post.

The threat comes on the heels of the May 22 bombing at a Grande performance in Manchester, England, that killed 22 people and injured dozens more.

Grande recently paid tribute to Saffie Roussos, the youngest victim of the Manchester bombing, on what would have been her birthday.

The Break Free singer took to Instagram to pay her respects following her concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 5. Roussos would have celebrated her ninth birthday on July 4.

The family of Roussos also shared memories of the girl that day.

The Roussos family said celebrating her birthday is just one way they are coping and keeping Saffie’s memory alive.

“We didn’t want to just let her birthday pass,” said her father. “We’ve lost everything. We have. Because life will never be the same.”
