Victoria police said a 12-year-old girl reported that she and her friend were approached by a man who tried to get her to go to a concealed part of the Cecelia Ravine Park.

The girls, who were uninjured, ran away to get help.

The suspect is described as being 25-years-old, over six feet tall with dark brown, straight hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap, frayed blue denim shorts and was carrying a basketball. His shoes were black Adidas runners with three white stripes. It is believed the man has a moustache and a light goatee.

Police said the girls in this incident did everything right and are reminding parents to talk to their children about never leaving with a stranger and teaching them which adults they can trust.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Victoria police or Crime Stoppers.
