City of Winnipeg finishes annual spraying for forest tent caterpillars

WINNIPEG — The annual forest tent caterpillar control program wrapped up Thursday.

Spraying for forest tent caterpillars started on May 14. City workers used high pressure sprayers to try and stop the bugs from feeding and eventually killing the trees.

The city said the caterpillars have stopped feeding which makes “any further spraying ineffective.”

Caterpillars could still be seen crawling around as they look for places to spin a cocoon to prepare for the next part of their life cycle.
