U.S. President Donald Trump is considering shifting White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer to a more senior role, according to published reports.
“I don’t think anything is imminent,” a senior White House official told Reuters. “No decisions have been made. There is nothing definitive.”

Spicer is currently serving in dual roles — press secretary and communications director – as the previous communications director, Michael Dubke, resigned May 30.
Spicer is reportedly on the hunt for his replacement alongside White House Chief of Staff Reince Preibus. According to a report from Politico, the pair have been in contact with Fox News personality Laura Ingraham about the role of press secretary and Daily Mail editor David Martosko about the role of communications director.

Spicer has been looking to move into a role where he would supervise both positions, according to the report.
The White House has been looking to expand its communication’s operation for some time.
“We have sought input from many people as we look to expand our communications operation. As he did in the beginning, Sean Spicer is managing both the communications and press office,” White House deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.
Spicer has come under fire several times since Trump’s inauguration.
A day after, the press secretary held briefings where he lashed out at the media over refuting inauguration crowd numbers.
Less than a week later, Spicer attempted to use the Quebec City mosque shooting as a way to justify Trump’s travel ban.
The flubs have continued ever since, as he has called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ‘Joe Trudeau’, apologized for saying Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons during the Second World War and even hid out in the bushes to avoid the press after Trump fired former FBI director James Comey.
On Monday, Spicer was again in the spotlight after he spoke to the press while refusing to allow reporters to use cameras or audio recorders.
CNN senior Washington correspondent Jim Acosta went on a Twitter rant over Spicer’s methods.
