Festival season is upon us, and with that comes one of Edmonton’s biggest summer events – K-Days.
K-Days held its annual festival launch on Tuesday morning, announcing the attractions for this year’s fair, including the ever-popular food menu.

While the traditional midway food—including mini doughnuts, cotton candy and corndogs–will still be on the menu, there are several new food items festival-goers can enjoy.
Jalapeno lemonade
A mild kick to the traditional lemonade drink.
Bacon beans & wienies poutine
Classic wienies and beans piled on top of a mound of poutine. Then add some bacon for good measure.
Maple walnut cotton candy
A spin on a traditional midway treat, this cotton candy is spun with maple sugar and chopped walnuts.
Canadian bacon pickle balls
Start with a bite-sized hot dog, wrap it with a pickle and some sizzling bacon, then stick it in the deep fryer. This snack comes served on a stick.
Mozzarella stick grilled cheese
If you love cheese, this sandwich is for you. Two pieces of bread filled with three mozzarella sticks and a mixture of other cheese.
Oreo BeaverTails pastry
These pastries are brushed with a butter and vanilla spread, topped with crumbled Oreo pieces and drizzled with chocolate.
Lā Hānau Kaka (birthday cake) shave ice
This treat starts with a base of authentic Hawaiian shave ice. It’s topped off with vanilla soft serve, birthday cake flavour, whipped cream and sprinkles. Plus, what birthday cake would be complete without a candle? There’s one of those, too.
Smokie corn dog
A juicy smokie dipped in classic corn dog batter, deep fried to perfection.
Deep fried chicken feet
These chicken feet are battered, deep fried and served on a stick.
Amsterdam fries
A cone of thick-cut steak fries topped with frying potatoes and a range of mayonnaise-based sauces.

Drink from a hollowed-out melon
Walk the midway with a drink served in a hollowed-out melon. Cored out cantaloupe or honeydew is blended with ice and poured back into the original shell.
Deep fried mozzarella sticks
These treats are exactly as they sound! Who doesn’t love deep fried cheese?
Jalapeno bites
Bite-sized spicy jalapeno cheese deep fried and served hot.
Deep fried bacon cheesecake
This cheesecake is deep fried, then topped with bacon for a sweet and salty dessert.
Maple coffee milkshake
A refreshing cool coffee milkshake with a hint of Canadian maple flavour.
Crispy mashed potato fingers
These deep fried buttery mashed potatoes can be eaten on the go.
Chili lime popcorn shrimp perogies
These mini perogies are topped with crispy panko crusted shrimp, drizzled with sweet chili glaze and sriracha mayo, then finished off with crisp cucumbers.
Deep fried coffee
Infused with fresh brewed French roast coffee, these vanilla cake batter balls are paired with either Coffee Crisp or After 8 mints.
Footlong not-cho Dorito dog
A premium all beef footloong hot dog covered in cilantro, sour cream, tomatoes, red onion and three cheeses. It’s finished off with cheesy Doritos.
Bacon mac n’ cheese dog
This footlong hot dog is wrapped in bacon and topped with mac n’ cheese and crispy bread crumbs.
Cheesy jalapeno corndog
This jalapeno corndog is stuffed with gooey cheese.
Burnt marshmallow milkshake
A vanilla shake lined with caramel syrup and a pile of toasted marshmallows.
Fresh fruit fair scones
These oven-baked treats are served with fresh fruit or bacon jam.
Tropical lobster poutine
Poutine with juicy steamed lobster, fresh mango salsa and coriander.
Beef and broccoli
Served on chow mien noodles, this dish is loaded with beef, broccoli and tangy Mongolian sauce.
Korean BBQ beef hot dog
This Korean-style hot dog is topped with sauteed onions, bulgogi beef and a secret Korean BBQ sauce.
Cookies and cream mini doughnuts
Mini doughnuts dipped in a sweet honey glaze and coated with Oreo cookie crumbs.
Hickory smoked cordon bleu stuffed burger
These beef patties are stuffed with Swiss cheese and honey-cured ham, served on a brioche bun.
Reuben corndog
Corn beef wrapped in Swiss cheese, dipped in batter and fried. This dog is served with aioli horseradish.
Deep fried pork belly
Thick slabs of pork belly skin marinated for 24 hours and deep fried to offer a crispy skin.
Freshly squeezed lemonade
New flavours this year include mango, peach and tiger’s blood (coconut and strawberry).
This year’s K-Days festival runs from July 21 to 30 at Northlands.
