The London Humane Society says this past weekend’s Bark in the Park Festival was its most successful yet.
The 33rd edition of the event was held on Sunday at the Plunkett Estate on Elviage Drive with pooches plunging into the property’s ponds to cool off as the temperature climbed.
Officials say Londoners turned out in droves with their four-legged friends, giving the festival its best attendance numbers to date.

“It’s always hard for us to count exactly, but we believe we’re sitting at approximately 5,700 people that came out to the event on Sunday, and we’re absolutely thrilled,” said executive director of London Humane Society Judy Foster.
Bark in the Park is the humane society’s largest fundraiser of the year and the money raised is critical to keeping the shelter up and running.
“We’re still collecting pledges, but at this point in time we’re sitting at about $93,000 so we’re hoping that in the next several days we get ourselves up to exceed $100,000 for support of animals at the London Humane Society and results for the event,” Foster said.
The London Humane Society says it’s very grateful to the community for its support.
“The London Humane Society operates 100 per cent by donation so it’s incredibly important for people to support our work and to help us so we can help the animals that are looking for shelter, for protection, and for care until they find their new families,” she said. “We’re hoping people will take advantage of our online pledging, and also they can make pledges in person. We’re accepting pledges until the end of the month for the Bark in the Park festival.”
