Former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony in Washington yesterday ranged from bizarre to surreal.

Numerous times, Comey dispensed with the euphemisms and straight-out called Donald Trump a liar, not the kind of language usually heard on Capital Hill.
It was not a good day for Trump, nor was it a good day for the Justice Department as time and time again, Comey hinted that political interference was rampant in what is supposed to be an independent, non-partisan body.
Realistically, I’m not sure Comey’s testimony swayed anyone yesterday, but there were a couple of moments that indicated that Trump isn’t out of the woods just yet.
Trump hinted on Twitter the other day that there may be recordings of his conversations with Comey, and Comey and a few of the Senators are now calling on the White House to release those tapes if they exist.

It was a a deja vu moment for many who remember how the revelation of the Nixon White House tapes fueled the Watergate investigation so many years ago.
But, of greater concern to Trump was Comey’s assertion that Acting FBI Director Robert Mueller was most likely now investigating Trump himself about obstruction of justice allegations as well as ties between the Trump team and Russia.
If Trump thought that firing Comey would make the problem go away, he was sadly mistaken.
