BooBoo the California cat’s adventure is over.
How the brown tabby, reported missing in the Golden State, wound up in the Guelph area four years later is still a mystery. One unlikely to ever be solved.
She was given over to the Guelph Humane Society after being discovered in Morriston, near Guelph a couple of weeks ago. Her owners were identified thanks to the microchip implanted between her shoulder blades.

No one in BooBoo’s family of owners has a passport, so instead the woman who calls herself the cat’s grandmother came to the Buffalo area to be reunited with the furry wayfarer Friday.
Olga Chmelicek describes herself as “shocked” to be holding the family cat once again.
“After four years we either thought she had passed away somewhere or someone had her.”
While BooBoo was fairly playful in her reunion with her grandmother, it wasn’t clear whether she actually remembers her.

“It might take a little time,” says Chmelicek.
The family is also looking forward to reuniting BooBoo with Oreo, the pitbull they call her brother.
While BooBoo was an outdoor cat when she left home four years ago, this time around Chmelicek tells Global News, “We’re just going to try to keep her indoor.”
After expressing her thanks to the Guelph Humane Society and anyone else who might’ve taken care of BooBoo during her Canadian adventure, Chmelicek and BooBoo left Buffalo for California on a flight late Friday afternoon.
Her advice to other pet owners around the world? Simple.
“Chip your animals! Chip chip chip!”
The Guelph Humane Society says BooBoo’s case is a perfect example of the importance of having your dog or cat implanted with a microchip.
