Emergency crews were called to the Mississauga Valley Boulevard and Elm Drive area, near Hurontario Street and Central Parkway East, just before 10 p.m.

A Peel Paramedics spokesman told Global News the victim died at the scene.

Peel police said Shane Thomas was shot on the sidewalk next to a bus stop.

A resident living at a nearby apartment building said he heard the sound of three gunshots.

“I looked out the window and I see the police coming,” John Hull said.

“It was high caliber because it was pretty noisy. I have double windows and I heard it.”

Police are still investigating if the shooting is linked to another in Mississauga an hour later in which shots were fired into an apartment window.
