Nancy Hixt 2012 Year in Review Nancy Hixt – Crime and Safety reporterThere were three cases in particular this year that resonated with Calgarians. Arguably the most high profile missing persons case in Calgary’s history, police spent nine months and more than a million dollars investigating the disappearance of Ryan Lane. Now, three people are in jail, charged with first degree murder.

The brutal murder of a beautiful six-year-old girl also hit Calgarians hard. After nearly a year of investigating, the homicide unit made arrests in the death of Meika Jordan– and the girl’s own father and stepmother are the accused.

And in January, a disturbing case of sexual abuse made headlines when a 13-year-old boy admitted to sexually assaulting a four-year-old boy in the foster home they lived in.
