SASKATOON – It’s a debate that has lit up message boards – ‘Merry Christmas’ messages on Saskatoon transit buses.
Now, the city’s executive committee has weighed in on the debate.
The committee decided today to continue allowing “Merry Christmas” to be displayed on electronic message boards.
They also said other cultural celebration messages may be added in the future.
The furor over the message started after a Saskatoon man complained it violated separation of state and religion.
Ashu Solo asked for the message to be removed by Dec. 22 or he would file a complaint with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission.
There is no word yet from Solo whether he will proceed with his complaint after today’s decision.
