Teacher’s body recovered from North Thompson River

The body of a teacher killed in a car crash was found on Friday.

Police say at around 3 p.m. the body of Courtney Buck was recovered from the North Thompson River.

The search was conducted by local concerned citizens, including members of the Wells Gray Search and Rescue, and they found Buck’s body submerged in the river in an area around 400m near the initial crash site.

Her body was recovered by members of the Wells Gray Search and Rescue Team and Clearwater RCMP.

Family members were present in the area at the time of the recovery and are aware.

The Clearwater RCMP and BC Corners Services continue to investigate the crash and deaths.

Courtney Buck was seven months pregnant, and died with her husband Skye when their vehicle skidded off Highway 5 and plunged into the river last Sunday.

A memorial is being held for the couple on Saturday.
