Little Canucks fan captures attention at Wednesday’s game with ‘Hot Dog Horvat’

WATCH: B.C. dad and son tell the story of 'Hogdog Horvat' sign spotted at the Canucks game – Jan 6, 2017

A small Vancouver Canucks fan captured the attention of fans and TV viewers on Wednesday night with a sign he was holding up for everyone to read.

A little boy named Adley, at the game with his dad Aaron Hefter, was holding a sign reading:

‘Bo my dad will buy me a wiener dog if you score. PS: I will name him Hotdog Horvat’.

The Vancouver Canucks’ Twitter account noticed the boy and his sign and snapped a picture:

Then, with about six minutes remaining in the third period, Bo Horvat gave viewers what many were waiting for – a goal.

Meaning, that little boy may now be getting his dog.

Hefter says Adley wanted a wiener dog and tried to persuade him ahead of the game to get one.

“He said, what if his favourite player Bo scored a goal, can he get a wiener dog? I thought about it and I said, sure, we can do that.”

He says Adley was a bit shy to hold up the sign at first, but “as more people kept rooting for us, he got a bit more confident.”

“I did not think it was going to happen,” Hefter said. “First period happened, second period happened, and by the third period, I did not really think we had a chance, but then Bo got it on that breakaway, so we looked at each other and we knew what was going to happen.”

Even Horvat noticed the father-son duo and their sign.

“I noticed [the sign] just at the end of the first or second period,” said Horvat. “I wasn’t sure exactly what it said. It said something about a dog and I read it a little closer after. I hope that he gets that wiener dog after that one.”

Adley and his dad are now in search for a wiener dog to adopt, as their local SPCA did not have any wiener dogs immediately available for adoption.
