As an author, journalist and travel expert, I am always looking for the latest and greatest in technology for travel. Whether it’s the best new website for booking flights or the latest app for customizing your travel plans, I’ve tried it. The reality of it is, I delete about 90% of the apps I download to my smart phone. This is either because they don’t actually do what they promise or because they end up being too cumbersome to use for the results that they actually provide.
Over these past few days – I have fallen in love with a new app. And – let me tell you – this one will not get deleted! Just launched on November 26, 2012, the Conrad Concierge app has been a dream to use. It is simple, user friendly and extremely helpful if you are planning a stay at one of the 23 Conrad Hotels & Resorts world-wide. I was lucky enough to spend 3 amazing nights at the beautiful Conrad in Downtown Manhattan. Well, let me first say what a gorgeous hotel this is! I mean I have stayed at tons of hotels in cities all over the world, but Conrad really sets the bar for 5-star accommodation. Its contemporary architecture and modern suites are located in the heart of lower Manhattan, with stunning views of New York City and the Hudson River.
I had the privilege of getting to use the Conrad Concierge app during my stay and it could not have been more liberating! There is no other app like it on the market. This app allows you to personalize your entire experience at the hotel – before you go, while you’re there and after you leave. It allows you to do virtually everything you could by going to the front desk or concierge –and more! On the app you can book your reservation, select which amenities you want in your room, schedule room service, wake-up calls and even check-out.

These features are really just the tip of the iceberg. And it gets major bonus points in my book for eliminating that awkwardness that can be felt by making lots of requests when you check into a hotel and feeling…how should a put it? A little high maintenance! All your personal preferences and requests are made directly through the app. You don’t have to speak to anyone if you don’t want to! Confirmations of your preferences are done through a phone call or if you prefer a text to your phone. Super convenient!
Here is an example of just how easy using the app was…while out for dinner with friends I was able to request turndown service, change my bath amenities to Shanghai Tang (I loved the Aromatherapy Associates but wanted to sample something new!) and order my breakfast for the next morning. You can view the entire room service menu through Conrad Concierge! The next day while I was at a business meeting, I checked out using the app and requested my bill be emailed to me.
It really couldn’t be easier. If you haven’t already downloaded Conrad Concierge, I definitely recommend it. It’s free and definitely helps represent Conrad’s motto of providing the “luxury of being yourself”. You can download the Conrad Concierge app here.
