According to city officials, more than 36,000 people gathered in Churchill Square in downtown Edmonton Saturday night to ring in the new year. But if you were not one of the thousands who braved the crowds, you can rewatch the fireworks display from the comfort of your own home.
Here is the entire 10-minute fireworks spectacular, which went off with a bang at midnight.

This year, there were two fireworks shows – one at 8:30 p.m. and another at midnight. The fireworks at 8:30 p.m. were meant for those with young families but also coincided with the stroke of midnight in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada’s first time zone to ring in 2017.
Mayor Don Iveson was in Churchill Square for the festivities and spoke with Margeaux Morin about what’s to come for Edmonton in 2017.
