Officials at London International Airport are calling it a minor incident after a Toronto-bound Air Canada Jazz plane “taxied off the runway” and slid into a snowbank in London, Ont. Thursday morning.

The incident took place at 6:45 a.m. when the AC Jazz Dash 8-400 aircraft, which was taxiing, veered off the runway and into “a snow-covered grass area.”

“While the aircraft was taxiing for departure, just after the aircraft had turned onto the runway, the aircraft nose wheel became stuck in the grass on the side of the runway,” corporate communications manager at Jazz Aviation, Debra Williams, said.

No injuries were reported and 53 passengers on board were transported back the terminal to re-book on a later flight, the airport said.

Airport officials said AC flight 8640 was shut down as a precaution and all other regularly scheduled flights took off and landed without incident.
