Saskatoon Transit disruptions Sunday due to ATU job action

Bus service continues to be disrupted after the union that represents Saskatoon Transit drivers moved forward with job action.

The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 615 has directed its operators to refuse overtime and work to rule as their contract dispute with the city remains unresolved.

As a result, Saskatoon Transit has been forced to make the following cancellation to Sunday bus service:

  • Route 8 City Centre – leaving Centre Mall at 9:30 a.m.,11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. CT will be cancelled today.
  • Route 8 8th Street – leaving city center at 9:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 40 Evergreen – leaving city centre at 2:45 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:45 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 40 City Centre – leaving Konihowski Road and Carr at 3:10 p.m., 5:10 p.m., 7:10 p.m., and 9:10 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 65 Kensington – leaving city centre at 3:45 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 65 City Centre – leaving from Confederation Mall terminal at 4:20 p.m., 6:20 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 81 Centre Mall – leaving University of Saskatchewan at 8:43 a.m., 10:38 a.m., 12:38 p.m., 2:38 p.m., 4:38 p.m., 6:38 p.m. and 8:38 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 81 University – leaving Centre Mall at 10:08 a.m., 12:08 p.m., 2:08 p.m., 4:08 p.m., 6:08 p.m. and 8:08 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 86 Rosewood – leaving Centre Mall at 9:05 a.m., 11:05 a.m., 1:05 p.m., 3:05 p.m., 5:05 p.m., 7;05 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. will be cancelled today.

Bus users can stay informed of any disruptions or delays by following service alerts. Individuals without access to the internet can call the customer service line at 306-975-3100.

Saskatoon Transit encourages customers to plan their commute in advance and allow extra time due to higher volumes of passengers, delays and cancellations.

Access Transit will continue to operate uninterrupted.

On Friday, the city announced that a tentative agreement had been reached and the union’s membership is expected to vote on it next week.

ATU members have been without a contract since 2012.
