A Manitoba community in the Winnipegosis area has declared a state of emergency after ice started piling up on a nearby river.

Officials from the Mossey River municipality said extreme winds from the north west are pushing ice down the river and causing it to pile up.

On Wednesday, officials in the community said the winds died down, “but not enough to reduce the concerns and monitoring continues”.

Mossey River has not cancelled any services. Officals are asking residents in the area to be careful.
