Pilot dies in northern Alberta plane crash

A 52-year-old pilot has died after his plane crashed in northern Alberta, Saturday.

RCMP say the Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Trenton, ON received an emergency beacon signal around 6:10 p.m. from a plane between La Crete and High Level.

Officers say the pilot, and lone occupant of the single Turbo Prop PA-46-500TP plane, was flying between La Crete and High Level when the plane flew into an area with poor visibility. Officers say cloud cover and heavy fog reduced visibility to 100 metres.
