Shortly after 11 a.m. local EPCOR crews were responding to reports of a power outage downtown Edmonton.
Without access to power, many Edmontonians used social media to get information about the outage and what neighbourhoods were affected.
EPCOR was also online consistently, updating consumers as the situation progressed.
EPCOR revealed the areas affected could be in and around the areas they listed as an estimation. As of noon Friday, they were still trying to restore power to much of the downtown core. The company also addressed safety precautions for those affected.
Many Edmontonians were reportedly calling EPCOR to report the outage. However, the company advised against calling.
As the outage continued, the impact of no power was felt in homes and businesses.
